Delete My Account & Data

Last updated: July 8, 2026

Oar stores almost all of your data locally, on your own device — so in most cases, deleting your data is entirely in your control and doesn't require contacting anyone. This page covers every case: local data, your optional Google Sign-In, and any Google Drive backup you may have created.

1

Delete local app data (transactions, budgets, everything)

Since this data lives only on your device, either option below fully removes it:

  • Uninstall Oar from your device. This immediately and permanently erases the local database, as Oar does not use Android's automatic device backup.
  • Or, from your device's system settings, go to Settings → Apps → Oar → Storage and tap Clear data.
2

Delete your linked Google account / sign-in

An in-app Settings → Account → Delete Account option is on the way, but it depends on a backend service that's still being built, so it isn't available in the app yet.

Until it ships, use Request assisted deletion below — the developer will manually remove your sign-in record from our authentication provider (Firebase Authentication) so it's no longer linked to your Google identity.

3

Delete a Google Drive backup

Backup files are stored in a private, hidden area of your own Google Drive account (the "app data folder"), which only Oar can access — not even the developer can see or manage it directly. To remove it:

  1. On your Android device or at myaccount.google.com/permissions, find Oar under apps with account access.
  2. Remove/revoke Oar's access.
  3. Revoking access removes Oar's permission to your Drive and results in Google deleting the associated app data folder contents for Oar.
4

Request assisted deletion

If you'd prefer we handle any of the above for you, or you run into any issue completing the steps yourself, email us and we'll help:

Email: ridillperson+oarsupport@gmail.com

Please include the email address associated with your Google Sign-In (if any) so we can confirm and process your request.

Because Oar does not operate its own backend server, the developer does not hold a copy of your transactions, budgets, or backup contents outside of what's described above — we cannot delete data we do not have. Requests submitted this way are acknowledged, and any account records still held by our authentication provider (Section 2) will be removed, generally within 30 days.

See the Privacy Policy for full details on what data Oar collects and how it's used.
